As our appreciation for humanity becomes global, a proportional yet fit stature is now the ideal. Dr. Belsley can help modify portions of a physique to help achieve a total body proportion that appears both attractive and healthy.

Body Contouring Provides A Proportional Yet Fit Stature.

A survey of the world’s artistic masterpieces reveals marked changes in the female body ideal throughout the ages. New York City has a more modern body ideal where glowing skin and a healthy aesthetic is more in fashion.Rotund figures emphasizing fertility and motherhood represented the paragon of womanhood for thousands of years. Greek and Roman sculpture idealized a significantly more athletic, but nonetheless curvaceous female ideal. Liposuction, tummy tuck and abdominoplasty are aesthetic surgery proceudres that are performed in New York by Dr. Ksenja Belsley. These procedures take into account the quality of skin, the amount of fat in order to lift and tone the appropriate portions of the body and attain an optimal result. These procedures are cosmetic plastic surgery options that can help achieve more youthful appearances. The twentieth century brought convictions that introduced an understanding that no one particular female body is ideal. Although the male archetype remains grounded in athleticism, similar busy schedules and lifestyle demands may also necessitate surgical contouring.

Abdominoplasty can modify portions of a physique

The female abdomen embodies the essence of womanhood, both in form and in function.  However, pregnancy stretches the abdominal skin and the muscle layers beneath it. In both men and women, these layers may simply loose elasticity over time.  In either case, some aspects of the changes in the appearance of the abdomen will not be responsive to diet or exercise.   A surgical procedure known as an abdominoplasty or a “tummy tuck” can enhance the body’s contour by making the abdomen firmer, flatter and tighter.  An enhancement in the fit of an individual’s clothing, their posture and their self image often results.

Mid-Body Liposuction can provide a more attractive and healthy appearance

Various degrees of abdominal distension occur with pregnancy, weight gain and aging.  In individuals whose skin and muscle has not been stretched out of shape and who have appropriate skin elasticity, the mid-body may be contoured with liposuction.  There are various forms of liposuction that use tumescent techniques. Smart liposcution, ultrasonic liposuction are mechanical techniques of augmented liposuction. These use energy to break apart the fat so that the cosmetic plastic surgeon attains smooth results throughout the layers of fat undeneath the skin. The scars that occur during liposuction are the same regardless of energy source used. The advantages of this method of body contouring include shorter incisions and a shorter recovery period.  In individuals who are fit and have good muscle tone, but have a genetic tendency to accumulate fat deposits in the abdomen, this method of body contouring can uncover and showcase an athletic physique.

Lower Body Liposuction

Although many body types exist, many women are genetically predisposed to accumulate fat stores in the hips and thighs.  In the extreme, this tendency may result in a body proportion that appears off balance.  Further, fatty deposits in these areas are notoriously unresponsive to diet and exercise.  Liposuction can successfully address these concerns and also improve the fit of clothing.  In individuals with fat deposits in the knees, lower legs and ankles, liposuction can result in shapelier legs.

Arm Lift

An arm lift, also know as a brachioplasty, is most often performed in individuals who have lost a large amount of weight.  However, anyone with a significant amount of skin that sags on the underside of the arm may benefit from this procedure.  Although an incision is required to remove the excess skin, Dr. Belsley will make every effort to place this incision in an inconspicuous position.

Back Liposuction:

Most men and some women have a tendency to accumulate fat deposits in the back immediately above the buttocks.  This area is often referred to in popular culture as “love handles.”  The lower rise pants that have become fashionable of late emphasize excess fat in these areas.  Liposuction can provide an excellent resolution to this concern with a relatively short recovery period.  In addition, Dr. Belsley feels that liposuction of the upper back, especially around the bra strap area in women, has proven increasingly successful with the addition of ultrasound assisted liposuction.  This specialized technique of liposuction involves the use of high frequency sound waves to assist in breaking up fat cells prior to liposuction.  It has rendered previously resistant areas of fat deposition much more amenable to liposuction as a method of body contouring.

Arm Liposuction:

In individuals with overly full upper arms but good skin tone, arm liposuction can result in shapelier, more muscular appearing upper arms without lengthy incisions.  Dr. Belsley often utilizes ultrasound assisted liposuction in this area in order to promote skin shrinkage, making more individuals candidates for this minimally invasive method of arm contouring.

This case depicts a 37 year old woman who had borne a child and noticed several changes in the appearance of her abdomen post-partum.  Her abdominal skin appeared to be sagging, her abdominal wall was less taught than it had been prior to her pregnancy and she had developed significant stretch marks.  Individuals like this woman are optimal candidates for an abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck,” as they have excess, “stretched out” skin that would not respond well to liposuction, because it does not involve removal of the extra skin.  The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately one year after surgery.

This case depicts a 51 year old woman who had delivered two children by c-section.  Both her abdominal skin and abdominal wall had been stretched during her pregnancy, giving her abdomen a less taught appearance.  These post-partum changes are not typically responsive to diet or exercise.  Although an abdominoplasty usually involves a fairly lengthy incision, a portion of it can be placed within an existing transverse c-section scar, if one is present.  Often, the entire incision is relatively easy to hide, even when wearing a two piece swimsuit. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately one year after surgery.

This case depicts a 44 year old woman who had borne four children and was most concerned with excess skin, which was  severely affected with stretch marks, on her abdomen.  Such individuals are optimal candidates for an abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck.”  While many of the stretch marks can be removed during this surgery, even those that remain are less noticeable when the skin is taught.  An abdominoplasty is also designed to tighten the abdominal musculature, which may also be stretched or malpositioned as a result of pregnancy. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately one month after surgery.

This case depicts a 29 year old woman who after bearing three children had become concerned with the protuberance of her abdomen.  In this case, both stretching of the abdominal wall and excess fat beneath the abdominal skin were contributing to the contour of her abdomen.  She had moderate but not severe stretch marks over her abdomen.During her abdominoplasty,  the abdominal wall was tightened and portions of the excess fat beneath the skin were removed.  The post-operative photographs show how the abdominoplasty incision can be hidden within underwear or swimsuit lines.

The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately three months after surgery. This case depicts a 40 year old woman who had borne three children via c-section.  Her c-section resulted in a vertical scar starting immediately below the belly button or umbilicus.  She had extra fat beneath the abdominal skin, in addition to a noticeable c-section scar.

During her abdominoplasty, the abdominal wall was tightened, portions of the excess fat beneath the skin were removed and the entire vertical c-section scar was removed. Although an abdominoplasty results in a lower abdominal, transverse scar, it can often be hidden within underwear and two piece swimsuit lines. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately one month after surgery.

This case depicts a 33 year old woman who was fit, slender and had never been pregnant.  She had, however, a genetic tendency to accumulate fat in the lower abdomen and waist. With her excellent skin tone and skin elasticity, this type of individual is the optimal candidate for liposuction.  Once the excess fat is removed from beneath the skin, the skin will shrink down and hug the new body contour without any sagging. The incisions required for this type of body contouring are a few millimeters in length.  Notice the significant change in this woman’s body shape to a desirable “hourglass.”

This case depicts a 41 year old woman who had borne one child via c-section.  Because her skin had remained relatively undamaged by the distensing effects of pregnancy, she elected to undergo abdominal recontouring by liposuction.A previous pregnancy does not indicate that an individual is not a candidate for liposuction of the abdomen.  In some instances, both liposuction and an abdominoplasty may be possible.  Each has different pros and cons, which must be discussed prior to selecting the appropriate method of body contouring.

The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately 3 months after surgery. This case depicts a 47 year old woman whose concerns included that her lower body was out of proportion with her upper body.  This body  shape affected the way that her clothing fit.  She underwent liposuction of the lateral thighs, medial thighs and medial knees, restoring balance to her body.

Liposuction, in this type of an individual, can increase fashion options, improve the fit of clothing and certainly increase self confidence.  The recovery time varies with the amount of fat removed and the areas addressed. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately three months after surgery.

This case depicts a 33 year old woman who had concerns with excess fat above the buttocks, around the waist in the back and around the bra area.  Liposuction in the back has been greatly facilitated with the advent of ultrasound assisted liposuction.  This specialized method of liposuction uses ultrasonic energy to break up fat cells so that they may be removed more thoroughly and more easily.  Dr. Belsley uses this method of liposuction in the back and in other areas of the body where removal of fat with traditional liposuction is more difficult.  The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately three months after surgery.

This case depicts a 45 year old woman who had concerns with excess fat above the buttocks.  This area was deeply out of proportion with the rest of her trunk and significantly affected the way that her clothing fit. Ultrasonic liposuction was performed to make this part of her body more in proportion with the rest of her torso. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately three months after surgery.

This case depicts a fit 24 year old woman who exercised and ate healthfully, but wished for her upper arms to appear more defined.  Ultrasonic liposuction was utilized to remove the relatively small amount of fatty tissue that was obscuring her arm musculature.Even in fit and muscular individuals, fat can obscure muscle tone.  The incisions necessary for this type of procedure are only several millimeters long and the results can be quite spectacular. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately six weeks after surgery.

This case depicts a 55 year old woman who after losing almost 100 pounds had  developed sagging skin in the upper arms.  Because of the significant skin excess that remained after such dramatic weight loss, liposuction alone was not possible as a method of arm contouring.  A surgical arm lift was performed.  Although this procedure involves an incision beginning in the arm pit or axilla and extending down toward the elbow, the results allow individuals to fit into items of clothing in which they could not prior to their surgery. The post-operative photographs depict this woman’s appearance approximately six months after surgery.
